Termites don't announce themselves. By the time you see damage, they've usually been working for a while. In the Santa Clarita Valley we deal with both drywood termites, which infest the wood itself, and subterranean termites, which come up from the soil.

Knowing which one you have

It matters, because the treatments are completely different. Drywood termites leave small pellets that look like coarse sand — often on windowsills or in garages. Subterranean termites build mud tubes up foundation walls and structural piers. Swarmers, the winged reproductives, show up in spring and are often the first thing homeowners notice.

Treatment options

For localized drywood activity, spot treatment of the infested members is often enough. For widespread drywood infestation, fumigation is the reliable answer — the whole structure is tented and the gas reaches every void. For subterranean termites, we treat the soil to create a continuous treated zone the colony can't cross.
