Wasps, Bees & Hornets

A nest near a doorway or a kid's play structure isn't something to wait on. Paper wasps, yellowjackets and hornets all defend their nests, and unlike a bee sting, they can sting repeatedly. In the Santa Clarita Valley we see the most activity from late spring through the first cool nights of fall.

Knowing what you're looking at

Paper wasps build the open, umbrella-shaped comb you see hanging under eaves and patio covers — the cells are visible from below. Yellowjackets build enclosed nests, often in the ground, in block wall voids, or inside a wall cavity. Hornets build the large grey football-shaped nests in trees and on tall structures. Honey bees are a different case entirely, and we'll tell you when a colony should go to a beekeeper instead of us.

What we treat and what we don't

Our removal is exterior only — nests you can see, on eaves, soffits, fascia, trees, fences, play structures and outbuildings. If the nest turns out to be inside a wall void or up in the attic, that's a different job and we'll quote it separately after looking. We'd rather tell you that on site than surprise you with it later.

Why height changes the price

A nest under a first-floor eave is a short job with a pole. A nest at the second-story roof line means ladder work, more setup, and more risk. That's the whole reason the price moves, and it's why we ask about stories before quoting.

Why knocking it down yourself usually backfires

Spraying a nest from a hardware-store can scatters the colony without killing the reproductives, and an agitated yellowjacket nest will defend a wide radius. Ground nests are worse, because you often don't find them until you're standing on one. If a nest is near a door, a walkway, or anywhere kids play, treat it as urgent.

What it costs

Exterior nest removal runs $250 for single-story and $300 where the nest requires ladder work at two stories or above. That's a one-time service, not a recurring program. If you're already on a recurring pest plan with us, removal is added to that visit.
