Two very different problems get called the same thing. German cockroaches live indoors, breed fast and indicate an interior infestation. Turkestan cockroaches live outdoors in irrigation boxes and block walls and wander in occasionally.
A German roach infestation is an interior problem requiring interior treatment and follow-up. Turkestan roaches wandering in from the yard are a perimeter problem. Treating one like the other wastes your money.
Warm, tight, near food and water. Behind and under the refrigerator, inside the motor housing of appliances, under the sink, in the hinges of cabinet doors, and behind wall plates. If you see one in daylight, the population is already substantial.
Gel bait placed in harborage points, growth regulator to break the breeding cycle, and follow-up visits. Sanitation matters more here than with any other pest — food debris competes directly with the bait.
